David was supposed to start work today...
by George Bachik
Today David was to begin employment as a State wide coordinator of Peer Bridgers. When I went to new employee orientation to do my class, it was very hard to focus because David wasn't there. In the afternoon session one of our consumers, who helps teach the class about recovery, gave a special dedication to David. David didn't just get this job, he spent years creating it. He worked on the concepts, communicated with people all over the country, worked on bureaucratic issues like pay levels, job descriptions, and more. He did this with the same passion and energy as everyone has been describing about him. It was not possible to just be a boss or co-worker, it was a total life experience and sharing of committment to change. That is one way to honor David, make sure the program continues and that we don't let this be a long delay. With Respect and Saddness, George
